For Windows and macOS

Capture your context.
Paste it anywhere.

Press one shortcut and ContextSnap turns what you are working on into a short, redacted Markdown snapshot on your clipboard. Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, or any other assistant.

Runs only when you ask it to. Processed on your computer. No account.

# Context Snapshot
_Captured 2026-10-14 19:31 by ContextSnap._

## Visible text
### Active window: Code — Program.cs
api_key = [REDACTED]

## System context
### Git repositories (1)
- Branch: `main` → `origin/main` (ahead 1)
- Working tree: 2 unstaged, 1 untracked

How it works

  1. Press the shortcut

Ctrl+Alt+Shift+C on Windows, ⌃⌥⌘C on macOS by default. Nothing is read before you do.

  2. Context is collected and redacted

Visible text of the window you are using, open apps, Git state, and system basics. Secrets, tokens, and email addresses are redacted on your machine.

  3. Paste the Markdown

The snapshot lands on your clipboard with a short confirmation. Review it, then paste it wherever you need it.

What a snapshot can include

Each source can be turned off. Size limits keep the result short enough to be useful.

Private by design

ContextSnap is a capture tool, not a monitor. It does nothing until you press the shortcut or click Capture, and it keeps no history.

  • Captures only when you trigger it
  • Processed and redacted locally
  • No network requests, telemetry, or accounts
  • Nothing captured is saved to disk

Redaction is pattern-based and cannot catch every secret. Window titles and file names can still reveal what you work on, so review the snapshot before you share it. Read the privacy details.

Download

Builds for both platforms are published here when a release is available.

Current builds are not code-signed or notarized, so Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper may ask you to confirm the first launch. Each download lists its SHA-256 checksum.
